"Well, we can certainly fix this!"

Toby disappears down the bend.

Twenty minutes later, he returned with the Breakdown Crane.

"Horrid Lorry, it has been some time! You must be careful, especially near these tracks."

Soon, the mess was cleared.

"There you are, Diesel. If you make good time, you can arrive early."

"Thanks!" said Diesel 10, and with that, he went to finish his work.

An hour later, Toby had arrived at Elsbridge.

"Hm.."

(We must invite others.)

Diana was also at Elsbridge. She had shunted backwards for miles, and was tired out.

"Who is that clawed diesel?" Diana asked.

"Diesel 10. He's somewhat mean, but I feel he conceals his true feelings. He has tried to destroy us on more than one occasion, but to no avail. Why?"

"I was told that this island was inhabited by insane evil diesels with limbs. But it seems like he's the only one."

Diesel 10 then came by, much to the fright of Diana.

"Actually, there are my brothers as well, Diesels 1 (who actually doesn't have a claw), 11, 12, and 5000 XL."

*pause

I don't think we've introduced them into this continuity yet... Let's do so, so they don't "just appear" like Timothy, Marion or Reg.  but since they are your characters, I will only handle Diesel 11's introduction.
*unpause

Henry was at Brendham Docks; another freight train had to be brought to Vicarstown for the construction of the "new works."

"There you go Henry; ready to go!"

"Thanks, I'd best be off!"

Henry passed by a scrapyard, where there was a class forty with two claws on it

"Huh? What's that?"  But Henry could not stop to investigate. Meanwhile, the scrapyard manager was talking to the new diesel

Scrapyard manager: "in short, all you have to do is use your claws to load scrap into the freight cars.  Any questions Diesel 11?"

Diesel 11: "just one sir: why am I not allowed to leave the scrapyard?"

Manager: "well, this is your job, and your two claws make you too heavy for the loading gauge.  You cross any bridge on this island, it's bound to collapse.  Remember what happened to your brother?"

Diesel 11: "fair point."  And diesel 11 set to work.

"Well, the majority of the population is humans. And steam engines."

Meanwhile, Henry finally arrived at Vicarstown.  Construction was proceeding gradually.  Nearby, Henry was overhearing a conversation

"Uh, why an elevating turntable anyway?"

"Do not question my brilliance!  This engineering marvel will be a wonder to the world, and I will be the envy of all architects.  Now back to work!"

Henry thought it over "elevated turntable?  Is that even practical?"

Toby soon departed.

"I'll see you at Tidmouth, Diana. Farewell."


Toby soon arrived at Tidmouth.

@Frank: I never intended for them to be in the story. D10 was just telling Diana that they WERE there.

Oh, sorry.  I can remove the other post if you want.

Henry soon left for Tidmouth Sheds; his freight duties were complete for now and since this was "off-peak" at this time of year, there weren't as many passenger trains needed

He passed Toby on his way back

"Hello Toby."

(No, that's perfectly fine. Shall I be doing the Numbered Diesels then?)

(If you wish to do so, that is fine.)

Meanwhile, Diesel 10 was still working hard.

Toby trundles into Tidmouth station, where he sees Thomas and James with mail cars.

Henry pulls in on his way to the sheds "huh, isn't the mail Percy's job?"

Diesel 10 overheard it.

"Remember the last time you were doing the mail?"

Just as Henry arrived at Tidmouth Sheds, a yard manager ran up to him

"We need an engine to take a load of scrap to the docks. You are the only one available; please go do it."

Henry didn't have a choice, and set off; maybe now he could get a better look at that engine

When he arrived, he was surprised with what he saw; the engine looked like a class 40 with 2 claws instead of one. He was using his claws to load scrap into the trucks, in addition to doing regular shunting work

"I wonder if he's related to Diesel 10?" Henry said as he waited for his train to get readied.

(Maybe at this point we should get second characters, as if Diesel 11 (user) is getting diesel 11 as a second we should also get seconds, I call Splodge anyways the purpose would be to get characters in that just aren't there for some odd reason, like Percy, Gordon ECT)

Thomas had arrived at Elsebridge to see a bunch of people standing on the platform looking out at the bridge, as Thomas looked over there he was quite surprised...

He saw lots of smoke coming from the bridge, but there was no fire

"What's going on?" A bystander asked

Diesel 10 rolled up. "What the-"

Toby had just arrived.

"My, my. I wonder.."

(I second the motion of having two characters. I'll take Percy.)

The people continued to stare in wonder at this still unidentified phenomenon on the bridge that was getting everyone's attention
